Meet the founders
Sven Hamelink
Are you in need of a strategic partner that seamlessly connects security, innovation and policy? Meet Sven Hamelink, co-founder of OS3i and an experienced leader in the security domain. With over twenty years of experience in the security area, Sven has specialised in developing new domains on confidential topics at both the national and international level.
In various management and advisory roles at The Netherlands Police, the Ministry of Justice and Security, the Ministry of the Interior, and the National Coordinator for Counterterrorism and Security, he led teams of experts with a strong (inter)national network in the field of technology and innovation. Sven was also involved in setting up the European Clearing Board (EuCB), a platform that helps EU member states to recognise and combat various threats and focuses on innovation, methods, and techniques to support detection and investigation. His role in this underlines his expertise at the intersection of policy, technology, and international cooperation in the security sector.
In addition, Sven has been active for more than three years as co-chair of The Netherlands' Federal Government's Innovation Community (RIC), where he professionalized the organizasion, expanded activities, and increased visibility. He has contributed to making the RIC future-proof.
At OS3i, Sven focuses on building effective ecosystems for safety and security, connecting operations, policy, and scientific research at a high professional level. With decades of expertise in law enforcement, defense, and national security, OS3i provides customised, reliable solutions to enhance national and European security. Sven Hamelink’s national and international commitment emphasises his ability to operate at the highest level within international partnerships at the intersection of policy, security, and technology.


Patrick Hermans
In need for a strategic partner that bridges frontline needs, policy and innovative solutions? Meet Patrick Hermans, co-founder of OS3i and a connector within the European security and innovation sector. With over thirty years of operational and strategic experience in law enforcement, defense and the private sector, Patrick Hermans is a respected advocate for aligning emerging technologies with operational requirements.
He led the initiative to unify European police forces and EU agencies, resulting in the creation of the European Clearing Board (EuCB). Patrick played a crucial role in setting up key European strategic groups focused on AI, ethics & technology, and research & innovation, fostering collaboration between governments, academia and industry. His commitment lies in enhancing cross-border collaboration, sharing innovations, developing operationally applicable solutions, exchanging knowledge, while maintaining strategic oversight.
At the national level, Patrick has established working groups and quality networks, bringing together law enforcement- and security agencies to improve the quality of investigations, align forensic methodologies and improve personnel capabilities through education and training.
These initiatives underline his dedication to connect knowledge from different sectors to create useful and impactful solutions. His drive is to secure the crucial balance between freedom for citizens and the required security to make optimal use of it. Norms, values and ethics are leading values.
Patrick's career includes key roles at INTERPOL's Innovation Centre, The Netherlands Police and the Royal Netherlands Army, overseeing strategic projects in forensics and specialist detection technologies. He was operationally involved in investigations into serious and organised crime and counter-terrorism. During his time at the police as an advisor to the force leadership, he navigated politically sensitive (inter)national networks, translating strategic insights into operational results.
